Stop that door banging with a door stop

We all enjoy fresh air circulating through our homes, especially in the hot summer months.

We use a wide variety of items to keep doors open, or, if the wind is a bit too strong, semi-open. We use bricks, bricks covered with a layer of sponge foam and wrapped in material. We use long material and vinyl door “dogs”. We use built in hooks and eyes, we use rubber door stops.

Of the door stops we use the rubber wedge type must be most effective, as it can be used to keep the door open at just the right angle. Many other door stops still allow the door to move around, and make a noise.

There can be no doubt; the most effective doorstop is possibly also the ugliest. An alternative, which is quick and cheap to manufacture, is attractive, will blend in with just about any decor, and can be used as a decor item when not in use, is the wooden doorstop.

To make a wooden door stop for your flea market stall is easy. You will need at minimum, some timber, a wood saw, a paint brush, and some sand paper.

Cut the door stops from a length of 38mm by 38mm timber, give it a coat of matt white acrylic paint, and when it has dried, a quick rub with sand paper. The result is a fully functional, attractive decor item! Make a premium door stop series for your flea market stall, by adding shells, sea-weed, stones, and seed-pods.
